The 22nd June 2010 saw 12 members of the Sherborne and District Society members of CPRE collect 12 bin bags full of glass, plastic, cigarette packets and countless wrappings, cigarette butts and empty bottles in a couple of hours.

The litter was collected from streets and alleys in the Simons Road, Blackberry Lane, Bristol Road, St Aldhelm’s Road and Vernalls Road area.

The next pick will take place 10.00 - 12.00 am on 21st September meeting at JJ Stores, the Simons Road shop.

If you love where you live and think that with a bit of TLC it could be even lovelier, this is the place for you.

We spoke with 200 people from West Dorset at our ‘Love Where You Live’ stand in Dorchester, South Street on Saturday, 24th September. Organised by Dorchester Stop the Drop volunteers and supported by Dorset CPRE.

Thank you for  giving us examples of what you love about where you live and what you dislike. The results will be posted on this web page as soon as possible.

Dorset Campaign Against Litter
The Dorset Campaign Against Litter (DCAL) Committee was formed some years ago by a group of campaigners from East Orchard who were appalled at the amount of litter appearing on rural roads around them. The Committee now meets three times a year in Dorchester and includes representatives from the County and District Councils as well as several individuals working in the county town to improve the situation, especially in schools and at local railway stations. The Committee has achieved an excellent working relationship with the Councils representatives who regularly attend and exchange views on Fixed Penalty Notices and other matters.
Meeting dates for 2012: Thursday 23rd February, 14th June and 1st November.
