Dorset Campaign Against Litter
The Dorset Campaign Against Litter (DCAL) Committee was formed some years ago by a group of campaigners from East Orchard who were appalled at the amount of litter appearing on rural roads around them. The Committee now meets three times a year in Dorchester and includes representatives from the County and District Councils as well as several individuals working in the county town to improve the situation, especially in schools and at local railway stations. The Committee has achieved an excellent working relationship with the Councils representatives who regularly attend and exchange views on Fixed Penalty Notices and other matters. Meeting dates for 2010: Thursdays 4th February, 3rd June and 7th October.

Holes Bay, Poole, 21st May
This stretch of land is approximately two miles in length, and incorporates a well used pedestrian- and cycle-path. Unfortunately it is also an area that can suffer from litter.
Volunteers starting collecting litter at 10.00 am and light refreshments were made available to volunteers at Upton Country Park.
Please contact Elizabeth Williams on Tel: 01202 261747, Environmental Enhancement Officer, Borough of Poole if you are available to help with future litter picks.
The DCAL Committee is registered on the The Litteraction website. The CPRE website is all about helping you to take action against litter. The aim is to offer you a range of actions that you can take, from joining (or even forming) a local volunteer litter-collecting group to collecting litter on your own to exchanging views on the Litteraction forum.
Several of the District Councils held Spring Cleans in April. We have a particularly active group in Dorchester under the leadership of Bob Kerr. Brian Bean is running the “Find a Bin & Put it in” Campaign in Chickerell.
Please contact us if you know of any litter hot spots in your area and email the photographs. Please also send us details of future litter clearing dates for your area.
