Transport -
All road projects in Dorset are closely scrutinised, in particular for their environmental impact, and opposed unless they clearly show need and present the least harmful solution. We are encouraging a complete change in transport strategy with more emphasis on rail investment and public transport
Farming -
A flourishing rural community based on environmentally sustainable farming is seen to be the best defence of the countryside. We are against the excessive use of chemicals on arable land and the pressure of diversification.
Housing -
New housing designed to meet the needs of all those wishing to live in Dorset represents a potential threat to our Countryside. Whilst we are in favour of adequate housing for local needs, including social housing, we are opposed to new houses being built on green field sites which encourages people to move in from other counties
Water -
Water is becoming one of the scarcest natural resources in the South. We oppose developments which make excessive demands on local water resources and where rain water would be prevented from reaching underground aquifers
