The DCAL Committee is registered on the The Litteraction website. The CPRE website is all about helping you to take action against litter. The aim is to offer you a range of actions that you can take, from joining (or even forming) a local volunteer litter-collecting group to collecting litter on your own to exchanging views on the Litteraction forum.

Please contact us if you know of any litter hot spots in your area. Please also send us details of future litter clearing dates for your area.
Pictures of Volunteers collecting litter at Holes Bay, Poole sent in by Liz Williams.

The 22nd June 2010 saw 12 members of the Sherborne and District Society members of CPRE collect 12 bin bags full of glass, plastic, cigarette packets and countless wrappings, cigarette butts and empty bottles in a couple of hours.

The litter was collected from streets and alleys in the Simons Road, Blackberry Lane, Bristol Road, St Aldhelm’s Road and Vernalls Road area.

If you love where you live and think that with a bit of TLC it could be even lovelier, this is the place for you.
Dorset Campaign Against Litter
The Dorset Campaign Against Litter (DCAL) Committee was formed about ten years ago by a group of campaigners from East Orchard who were appalled at the amount of litter appearing on rural roads around them. The Committee now meets three times a year in the Dorchester area and includes representatives from the Dorset Waste Partnership (DWP), Borough Councils as well as campaign groups. The Committee has achieved an excellent working relationship with DWP who regularly attend and exchange views on Fixed Penalty Notices and other matters.

In 2014 Dorset CPRE donated £125 to Dorchester Stop the Drop and Dorset CLS to fund anti-litter poster campaign. Dorchester school children were invited to help tackle littering in the Litter Monsters poster competition and sculpture events.

The  Communities and Local Government select committee on litter and fly-tipping published its report on 14th March 2015. Neil Sinden, director of policy and campaigns at CPRE said “We are disappointed that there are no proposed measures to tackle drinks container waste, one of the most visible and damaging kinds of litter, but it is great to see politicans engaging with these issues and illustrating there are ways to tackle the many litter problems we face.”
